facilitating conversation
The NSF funded STEM to STEAM conference at The Rhode Island School of Design brought together scientists, artists, designers and researchers to discuss the potential for an educational curriculum that incorporates science and the arts. In order to help to facilitate this conversation, graphic designer Sara Raffo and I developed a playful system of cards that incorporated images, math symbols and words to create a diagrammatic tool to explore concepts and ideas at the cross-section of art and science. In addition to the card design, I worked with a team to design the conference schedule, organize participants, and to facilitate activities throughout the conference.
